Jumpstart your Spring and join Senior AYN teacher and founder Michelle Ryan for a Sunday morning Half Day Retreat. We will begin the morning with a short sitting practice followed by a four-part pranayama/kriya practice - the Four Purifications - developed by Baba Hari Dass.
After a brief break, Michelle will lead a FULL vinyasa Ashtanga Led Primary Series. This is based on the original, 'old school' Ashtanga as it was originally taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Full Vinyasa brings students through a standing vinyasa/full Surynamaskar A throughout the Primary Series between different seated sections of the practice. It is a slightly more deliberate, longer and rigorous version of the modern traditional Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga, but nevertheless, accessible to regular practitioners of Ashtanga Yoga.
Full Vinyasa Primary Series will be followed by Deep Relaxation - guided Yoga Nidra developed by Swami Satyananda Saraswati - to fully replenish, restore and reintegrate body, mind and spirit. We'll finish our retreat morning with traditional Indian chai and vegan treats, while Michelle shares a story or two from the rich pantheon of Hindu mythology with tales from the Mahabharata and the Siva Puranas.
-This class is limited to 16 students. -Students must have experience practicing through at least the first Half of Primary Series to attend. -Email Michelle with any questions
